An Introduction to Trusts Law
Welcome to Private Trusts Direct.
We hope you will join us on a journey of discovery, a journey to help you learn a system of law that others have used for centuries to protect their wealth for their futures and future generations.
To begin your journey, we would like you to start by gaining a basic comprehension of how the artificial construct of this system of law has been founded, evolved and then set in to agreed precedents that are recognised in a court of law.
We don’t have private security or armies to protect our wealth, so we are going to use the same system the wealthy have used for hundreds of years, an agreed set of principles that gives us access to using their enforcement to protect our assets.
The word “private” comes from the Latin word “privatus,” which is the past participle of “privare.” “Privare” means “to deprive” or “to release from” and is related to “privus,” meaning “single” or “individual.”
The sense of being apart from the state or a community, being set aside for personal use, or being separate or secluded has persisted in the word “private.” Over time, this Latin root passed into Old French as “privé” and then entered Middle English as “private.”
